Hey there, Friend! It’s been a while since I shared updates on the ongoing renovations at 67 Almshouse, the future home of Vitalia Inc. In case you missed it, this spring I was able to close on the purchase of the building we operated in prior to the Spring 2021 fire that had us move the business into my home. You can read all about that on my previous blog post here.
A lot has happened since my last update. And we’ve hit the point in the renovations where my GC says everything falls into place like dominoes.
On the exterior, we’re replacing the siding and windows, and we busted up the old porch and steps to make way for new masonry work.
Because the building used to house two storefronts, and I am combining the spaces to be one, there were updates to make to where doors and windows used to be. While it’s a lot of work, in the end it will all be worth it, because we get to decide how we want everything to function and what sort of work spaces we want and need.
And we’ve made a ton of progress inside too…
It’s incredible how much more spacious it feels with the ceiling opened up and dropping the floors. It was hard at first to picture what it was going to be, but now I can see it, and every time I stop by (which is often!) there is more and more change and progress.
So this was a big week, because we had inspections. I’m thrilled to share that we passed with flying colors, only one minor thing to fix. As a matter of fact, the inspector said it’s the best wiring he’s seen in a long time!
And I am super geeked that 67 Almshouse is going to have its own dedicated shipping and receiving room! This is a big deal to us, because for more than a year now, we’ve been working from my home, and the fabrics and hardware and products have taken over my home.
With framing up and inspections passed, next comes drywall, then we get to start putting in the fixtures and finishes. We’ve been working on making our choices and narrowing down our lighting, flooring, trim, paint colors…you know, all the fun stuff!
So far we are on track for moving in late this fall. I can’t tell you what this will mean for my team. With the volume we do, working from my home has been more of a challenge as more time has passed. We really can’t wait to welcome our designers and clients into our new studio space when it’s completed.
