We recently partnered once again with the talented team at ROHE Creative, who envisioned transforming a restaurant alcove into an immersive Moroccan-influenced escape lounge—one that would evoke the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, unique, colorful décor, and warmth of classic Moroccan lounges.

This shared vision and deep understanding of complex design challenges proved essential in bringing the Moroccan lounge concept to life.
Envisioning the Escape: Concept and Challenges
ROHE’s design called for a fully draped environment throughout the space, with a tented ceiling and walls swathed in colorful draperies to create an all-encompassing, comfortable cocoon experience.
The room presented numerous architectural and functional challenges that required careful consideration. Wall registers, fire safety equipment, security cameras, smoke detectors, doorways, and a chandelier opening all needed to remain accessible and functional without compromising the integrity of the design.
To address the spatial complexity, we meticulously mapped hundreds of measurements and string-sampled the tent curves. This exacting approach ensured that no detail was overlooked in the strategy phase before moving into fabrication.
Crafting the Tenting Ceiling: Engineering Meets Artistry
Creating a structurally sound yet visually effortless tented ceiling demanded both precision and innovation. The ceiling needed to appear naturally draped while maintaining absolute structural integrity—a substantial challenge we met by meticulously crafting and joining triangular fabric sections into the desired form.
Installation presented its own unique demands. To mount this expansive circular creation, we developed a custom board-mounting strategy that merged traditional techniques with modern engineering principles, achieving an authentic Moroccan tented effect without compromising safety or stability.
Mastering the Walls: Bespoke Solutions for Seamless Beauty
To navigate around various obstructions while maintaining a cohesive appearance, we custom-fabricated multiple drapery panels of varying widths and lengths to accommodate wall fixtures and openings. Through meticulous attention to seam alignment, pattern matching, and pleating, we created the illusion of one continuous curtain treatment enveloping the room.
We engineered a custom frame around the room to support both the wall panels and the tented ceiling, ensuring precise placement of anchors and brackets through laser measurement. The finishing touch was a custom-crafted wooden mounting ring at the tent’s apex, elegantly framing the room’s chandelier while providing essential structural support.
