What are woven window treatments?

You’ve heard of woven wood shades, but did you know there are other window treatments that can be fabricated with a natural woven wood material? It’s true! And woven wood shades are anything but boring. There are many ways you can customize them, so they provide beauty and function well for your client’s needs.

What are woven wood window treatments?

Woven wood shades are often made of very fine grass cloth or bamboo. The material is then processed and woven into beautiful window treatments.

Woven wood options can be made to size, which is often a bit more expensive, but more elegant.

Other companies weave a whole cloth and then cut it to size, which is more economical.

Due to the way woven wood treatments are made, fraying along the edges can be a common occurrence.

You can opt for an edge banding, not only to prevent that fraying, but to also provide a more polished look to your window treatment.

You can customize woven wood window treatments to look and function to your client’s needs and decor. They are available in a variety of colors, you can choose a lining based on the desired level of privacy and light filtration, and you can add banding to complete the look.

Woven wood treatments can be lined or unlined. Privacy and light filtering are often a consideration when determining which way you’d prefer to go.

It’s important to remember that a lining can also change the way woven wood looks.

Woven wood shades with a custom accent band for Gacek Design Group.

We installed these woven wood shades for the talented Gacek Design Group. We took the band you would typically see on the edge to prevent fraying, and ran it down the center of the woven wood shades.

Because we are also a workroom, there’s a fabrication component to Vitalia Inc. We fabricate almost everything that we install in terms of soft treatments in-house, and can add special elements like custom banding to woven wood shades.

Woven wood window treatments aren’t confined to just blinds and shades, they can be draperies as well!

While not a very common request, when we have done them they have worked out really, really well. These draperies here are stacked nice and tight, giving these woven wood treatments a natural, clean flow.
