Behind the Curtain: Inside the Vitalia Inc. Studio

As we celebrate twenty years in business, I’m reflecting on how our studio has evolved and how it supports the luxury interior designers we partner with every day.

A view inside the Vitalia Inc. Bucks County atelier.

This year marks an important milestone for Vitalia Inc., our twentieth year in business. Two decades of collaboration with talented interior designers, architects, and builders, bringing thoughtful custom window treatments to life in luxury homes and boutique hospitality spaces.

This month also marks another anniversary I will never forget. Five years ago, our studio caught fire. In a matter of hours we lost fabric, hardware, tools, and finished projects that were ready to be installed. We also lost the studio itself, the work home our team had built together over the years. Thankfully our team was safe, and almost immediately we did what small businesses do best. We adapted.

Within days we were back to work from my house, just as we had in the earliest days of the business. Projects moved forward, designers were supported, and the process of rebuilding began.

Looking back now, that moment became an unexpected turning point.

The fire destroyed our offices and workspace, along with finished projects and our work home, but not our spirit.

Rebuilding the Studio With Designers in Mind

Rebuilding gave us the opportunity to rethink not just our space, but how our studio could better support the services we offer and the work we do with our design partners. Over the past five years we have refined our processes, strengthened our capabilities, and leaned fully into the luxury atelier experience I envision for the designers we serve. Today our studio reflects that evolution.

Our capabilities are showcased throughout the studio.

For designers searching for a true custom window treatment workroom partner, the environment where fabrication and planning happen matters. Our studio is designed to support the level of precision and collaboration that luxury projects demand.

Team meetings happen every Tuesday in our Bucks County atelier.

Showcasing Craftsmanship Through Custom Upholstery and Soft Furnishings

One of the most visible additions is our upholstered wall. This new feature not only showcases our capabilities and the level of craftsmanship our team brings to every project, but responds to the growing design movement toward curated maximalism. Rich texture, thoughtful tailoring, and layered materials are becoming increasingly important in luxury interiors, and this feature allows us to demonstrate that craftsmanship in a tangible way.

Throughout the studio you will also see upholstered chairs and a tailored settee fabricated in house. These pieces showcase the custom work we do for designers every day.

By incorporating these pieces into the studio environment, designers can see, touch, and experience the craftsmanship behind our custom window treatments and soft furnishings rather than simply visualizing it. When you are specifying custom drapery, Roman shades, or upholstered window seats, understanding the construction and materials can make all the difference in a successful installation.

A range of drapery pleat styles allows designers to see how different constructions influence fullness, structure, and the final appearance of custom drapery panels.

A Collaborative Studio for Luxury Interior Designers

More than anything, the studio today is designed as a collaborative space. It is a place where designers can explore materials, talk through complex installations, and gain a deeper understanding of how the custom fabrication that takes place here in our workroom supports the overall design vision.

When it comes to window treatments and soft goods, the smallest details can have an enormous impact on the final result. Understanding fabric behavior, drapery construction, and installation sequencing is essential when executing custom window treatments for luxury interior designers and boutique hospitality projects.

Our fabric library and on-site workroom give designers an opportunity to explore materials, construction techniques, and custom window treatment solutions up close.

Twenty years in business has taught me many things. One of the most important is that great design is always the result of collaboration. I am proud of how far we have come, and even more excited about what lies ahead.

If you are a luxury interior designer, architect, or builder interested in seeing the studio firsthand, we host private Lunch & Learn sessions where we walk through our process, fabrication techniques, and the details behind successful custom window treatment installations. It is an exclusive opportunity to explore the studio, ask questions, and experience our craftsmanship up close.
