Liz Walton Home is one of those designers, and the proof is in a whole-home collaboration we completed together in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Liz made the design calls and specified every fabric. We turned her selections into finished, installed custom window treatments and kept her in the loop at every step, from the day we cut the first pattern to the day our installer climbed a ladder to hang the last rod.
Different fabrics, different rooms, same fabrication standard throughout.
Every room in this house needed its own solution. A family room valance had to solve a completely different problem than a hallway panel, and a powder room shutter had nothing in common with a sheer drapery in the dining room. But the thread connecting every room is simpler than a matching fabric or a repeated silhouette.
Every piece was built to Liz’s specifications for that room, and that room alone, and installed to the same standard, so the finished house reads as one project instead of a stack of separate orders. That kind of consistency is what makes a whole-home project feel just as manageable as a single window.

Solving Fabrication Challenges
The family room is where the first real challenge showed up. A double window, a triple window, and a door all needed relaxed mock roman valances that would read as one continuous line, and one of those windows had a structural beam crossing right where the cutout needed to go.
We built the fabric-covered board with the cutout worked in from the start, wrapped it in Schumacher’s Tulum linen and cotton blend, and finished each valance with hand-tied ties in a contrast watermelon pink from Kasmir. Those same two fabrics reappear on a window seat cushion in the same room, railroaded so the pattern runs the right direction across eighty-four inches.
The living room got the boldest fabric in the house, Schumacher’s Citrus Garden print, a saturated pattern that repeats every thirty-two and a half inches vertically and fifty-two inches across the width. Eighteen yards went into three pairs of functional panels, and every length had to be cut and matched by hand before a single seam went in, so the lemons and greenery would line up at the same point across all six panels instead of jumping at every seam.
That kind of matching is slow work, done by eye, one repeat at a time. Skip it, and the eye catches the seam before it catches anything else in the room. It’s the kind of detail Liz doesn’t have to ask about when she works with our team of skilled artisans. She already knows we’ll catch it.
The same precision follows the panels out of the workroom. Our installers check every measurement against the original spec before they hang a single rod, and they don’t leave a room until every fold falls exactly right.
